The Seagulls host Burnley this afternoon, before entertaining Huddersfield, Cardiff, Southampton, Newcastle and Bournemouth.

Albion are five points clear of the relegation zone and Hughton admits the run of matches gives Brighton a chance to pick up points.

He said: "I don't know if it will define the season because every period you go through will have a bearing on the season.

"I do accept that our home form is going to be better than our away form and when you're playing home games against teams not in the top six, then in theory and in practice there are more chances of getting results than against the top six.

"It's a period we're going through at the moment that gives us a chance to pick up points but you have to be able to go and do it."

Looking ahead to today's game with Burnley, Hughton said: "I expect a hard-fought game. The fact we are at home, you hope to take advantage of that.

"Our home form has been good and we're on the back of a very good performance against Watford."
