Albion striker Tomer Hemed, who had netted in the club’s three previous games, had a first half penalty saved, before the hosts were reduced to ten men early in the second half.

Brighton were awarded the spot-kick on 20 minutes when Jamie Murphy was fouled by Scott Golbourne but Hemed’s penalty was saved by Emiliano Martinez, who also stopped the rebound.

Hemed cleared Adam Le Fondre’s goalbound effort off the line at the other end, before Wolves’ Connor Coady was sent off for a foul on Liam Rosenior early in the second half.

Brighton were unable to make the extra man count, though, as Elvis Manu’s shot was comfortably saved, Murphy headed wide and Beram Kayal’s shot was deflected behind.
