Despite the Seagulls taking the lead through Leonardo Ulloa in the first half, Oscar Garcia’s men succumbed to their third defeat in a week.

Chris Martin scored either side of the break for the Rams to secure the three points.

Both sides had early opportunities, the home side through Will Buckley and David Lopez, and the visitors via Johnny Russell, but neither team could test the keeper.

That was until Ulloa cleverly latched onto an Inigo Calderon cross to nod low into Lee Grant’s net after 18 minutes.

Just 10 minutes later, though, Albion failed to clear their lines and Martin was composed enough to prod the ball past Tomas Kuszczak from inside the area.

The Seagulls were convinced they should have been awarded a penalty before the break as the ball struck an arm of a Derby player deep inside the box, but Andy D’Urso thought otherwise and play continued.

Martin struck what would be the winning goal inside two minutes of the restart when he raced onto a sublime Kieron Freeman pass and struck at the back post.

Ulloa almost levelled the game with a guided header soon after but was denied by the base of the post, and Kemy Agustien’s rasping effort from distance was tipped over by Grant in the closing stages.

Calderon also tried his luck from range but his strike flew wildly over the bar to conclude a miserable affair for the Seagulls.
