The Colombian returned to action after almost three months out in Albion’s 2-1 defeat at Leicester on Tuesday. He has made just ten appearances this season owing to knee injuries but now hopes to push on ahead of a crunch period for the Seagulls.

Speaking after the match, he said: “I’m happy to be back. It’s difficult, it’s been a long time without playing.

"For me it’s been a difficult situation this season but now I feel strong. Now I'll just keep working and doing my best for the team.”

Albion will be grateful to have Izquierdo’s injection of pace back into the side as they look to get themselves out of trouble, starting with a win over Huddersfield on Saturday.

The Colombian said: “We are only the ones that can get ourselves out of this situation. We know the quality we have, the players that we have, we just try to do our best and do everything for the club in each position and I hope everything is going to be alright.

“In Colombia, we say play or die. We know we are strong at the Amex, we have a big chance against the opponent, push hard and fight and try to get the points.”
