The Colombian international first suffered the injury when at the World Cup last summer. He returned to action in September but suffered a recurrence of the injury in the win over Crystal Palace at the beginning of December and has now missed Albion's last 11 matches.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton hopes Izquierdo will be back in training next week but said: "At this moment, he's fine and on course but the decisions we've had to make are how quick to push him.

"If we push him too quick, then it could take longer to get him back.

"We have to go by what our medical department are telling us.

"At this moment, we're hoping he's going to train next week.

"We were hoping he was going to train on Thursday or Friday but we made a decision just to shift that a little bit."
