The Bears roared into an early lead and didn’t look back despite a red card for Ben Arthur and a scrappy Bexhill goal which gave the hosts brief hope.

Tim Martin started the rout with a neat header after Jake Holmes and Damon Aston had combined well, and it was 2-0 after 18 minutes when Dan Attwater slotted home a penalty after his goalbound volley was handled on the line. Steve Painter’s side, now unbeaten in five as they moved up to fourth, were pegged back by James McKensie’s 25th minute strike after an uncharacteristic error from keeper James Fisher.

But at the other end, Heath continued to force the pace, with Holmes denied by Pirates keeper Joe Rogers.

Arthur’s second booking shortly before half time could have made for a difficult second half, but with manager Painter’s harsh words regarding missed chances ringing in their ears Heath dominated as Holmes and Aston ran riot.

Shortly after each had an opportunity to score again, the pair combined for the third, when Aston raced on to a loose pass and fed his strike partner for a tap-in from six yards.

The match was put beyond doubt with ten minutes to play, as Jamal Sultan knocked Aston’s cross into the path of Andy Waddingham, who applied a cool header from four yards.

With the game won, Heath added a fifth late on, when man of the match Tim Martin intercepted a pass in his own penalty area and drove through the heart of United’s midfield skipping past challenge after challenge before slipping in Aston for his eighth goal in eight games since rejoining from Loxwood.
