Bromley swith for Lewes striker Michael Malcolm

Lewes striker Michael Malcolm is set to join Bromley.

The Rooks today confirmed that they have come to an agreement for the transfer of striker Malcolm to Blue Square Bet South outfit.

Malcolm, who signed in July 2011 from Farnborough, following former Rooks boss Steve King from the Hampshire club, scored 13 goals in 36 appearances for The Rooks.

King’s successor and current Lewes caretaker manager, Simon Wormull, revealed two weeks ago that Malcolm had been put on the transfer list by Lewes because he “was unable to commit to the new training structure at the club”. He said travel problems and work-related issues had led to the star making the decision that he had to leave.

Wormull said: “I am disappointed to lose a player of his ability from the squad but I understand the position he was in.

“For the club to move forward changes had to be made and it is unfortunate that Michael could not commit to these, and we wish him well at Bromley.”

Questioned on replacement fire power, Wormull said: “ We have some feelers out there at the moment, and although unlikely for Saturday (v Wingate & Finchley), I hope to tie something up during next week.”

Tomorrow’s match, away at Wingate & Finchley is subject to a 9am pitch inspection, and supporters are advised to check the games is to go ahead before travelling.
