The former Pompey, Ipswich, West Brom and Colchester striker – one of the most prolific goalscorers of his generation – kicked the night off with a Q&A assisted by Jake Payne of the the Pompey Former Players’ Association, to which Bosham will be making a donation.

Marco Giambelardini took the players’ player of the year award for the first team, with Matt Docherty the managers’ player. Dave Storey was confirmed top scorer with 18 in all competitions this season.

Mat Jackson deservedly received the clubman of the year award from chairman Alan Price for carrying out the combined roles of treasurer, first-team linesman, goalkeeper coach and assisting under-16s’ training.

There was also special mention for manager Andy Probee - he and Rhys Hughes from Mulberry Contractors were recognised as groundsmen of the year for step seven clubs by Sussex FA for providing a fantastic playing surface on limited means.

Many took up the opportunity to have their photo taken with Crawford and the FA Cup – almost seven years to the day since Pompey won it.

Crawford had travelled down from the day’s Norwich v Ipswich to be there. Bosham said they were grateful to him, Jake Payne and lead sponsor Terry Collins from The Woodmancote for supporting the occasion.
