The Hillians have only won the one game out five in the league - the last game being a 1-0 defeat at Whiteable Town.

But Lovett is not concerned. He said: “We just aren’t being ruthless enough in front of the goal at the minute. That’s not just the forwards either.

“Other than Cray Valley in the first half in the FA Cup, we haven’t been outplayed by any side yet.. . but of course, it’s okay playing well, but it’s the points that count.

“I am disappointed we haven’t picked up more wins and points, but I’m not concerned with the performances my players have put it in, or the style or manner they have played. It’s easy to say it will come, but I am confident it’ll all click soon and we will put a little run together.”

The Hillians face a break from the league this Saturday with an FA Trophy home tie against Ware (3pm kick-off). Lovett said: “Ware in the Trophy will be another tough match.

“They are a good side and were flying last season before Covid hit and seem to be doing well again this season. I managed South Park against them last season before I got the Burgess Hill job.

The Hillians have no midweek games for two weeks. Lovett said: “It’s nice having no midweek game so we can focus on a few things in training.”
