The club has also appointed Stadium Solutions, based in Sayers Common, as the contractor to carry out the work on a brand new stand.

Club chairman Kevin Newell has assured supporters that the team will remain in the league next season and said he had ‘no doubt’ the upgrades will be finalised in time.

Speaking to Hillians TV, he said: “The application has been submitted. There will be consultations with the local residents, but we have kept them informed. As far as we know, nobody is going to raise any objections.

“The process will probably take four to six weeks before we get a decision from the council, but I am extremely optimistic that will be a positive decision.

“We will be in this league next season. We are going to sort out the ground position, I have no doubt about that.”

In addition to the new stand, adjustments to the turnstile area and signage around the ground must be made.

The club has held meetings with Mid Sussex District Council and hope to update the traffic management plan and the Hillians being granted a longer lease at Leylands Park.

The FA requires a lease of at least ten years for funding for ground improvements.
