Brighton & Hove Albion defender Shane Duffy said Burnley wanted it more than the Seagulls at the Amex on Saturday.

The visitors ran out 3-1 winners in the Premier League match as they moved level on points with Albion, whose winless run increased to six league games.

Brighton are now just three points above the relegation zone and reflecting on the game, Duffy said: "Their keeper has made some good saves but I don't think we deserved to win it. "They wanted it more than us and it's down to us to look at ourselves and get it right."

At 2-0, Brighton had a penalty appeal waved away when Jeff Hendrick appeared to handle and moments later Burnley were awarded a spot-kick of their own which Ashley Barnes scored.

Duffy said: "It's a decision which went against us today but we still have to defend better.

"They shouldn't have got in like they did and we've got to have a look at ourselves and be better. At this level, you get punished and they punished us on every occasion we made a mistake and got three goals."

Albion are now just three points clear of the relegation zone and Duffy said: "We know we're in a battle. We know we can't get ahead of ourselves and we never have.

"It's just not happening for us at the minute. We're a strong squad, a good team and a good manager who we know can turn it around.

"It's not always rosy and it's not rosy for us at the minute.

"We've just got to get our heads down, get back to the basics and make it hard for teams to come here again."
