Busy night for Bexhill clubs

All three of the Sussex County Football League clubs in Bexhill are set to be in action tonight (Tuesday).

Bexhill United host Lingfield and Sidley United entertain East Preston in round three of the John O’Hara League Challenge Cup, while Little Common go to Crowborough Athletic in round one of the Sussex Senior Cup.

Division One side Sidley expect to include new signing Ricky Martin in their squad to take on table-topping opposition. The former Rye United midfielder signed for the Blues on Sunday.

Andy Hales, Callum McDonald and Sam Willett are expected to return, while Dean Boyd will be added to the squad. Injured midfielders Matt Darby and Billy Trickett are hoping to do the pre-match warm-up, but Dale Vinall is still unwell.

Unbeaten Division Two outfit Bexhill could also field a new signing, former Eastbourne United and Seaford Town midfielder Tom Morton, as they seek to claim a third Division One scalp this season.

Bexhill manager Darrol Parris was hoping that Andy Garman will shake off a rib problem. Lewis Parsons is banned and Dan Hill isn’t too far away from returning following a lengthy injury lay-off.

It will be Bexhill’s sixth cup fixture of the season and their first at The Polegrove having made a trio of midweek trips into West Sussex recently.

Common will welcome back Jamie Crone from suspension for a match which was originally scheduled to be the first floodlit fixture at their Recreation Ground base last month.

The club hasn’t been given the go-ahead to use the lights for matches yet, though, and the tie has been switched to Crowborough.

Division Two high-flyers Common will be attempting to defeat Division One opposition for the second time this term. All three matches will kick-off at 7.45pm.
