Busy Rye back in action

Rye United’s hectic schedule continues tonight (Thursday) as they entertain Redhill.

Having played on Saturday and Tuesday, the Quarterboys are expected to make a raft of changes for the Sussex County Football League Division One fixture.

All five substitutes - Dominic Clarke, Jack Franklin, Paul Tuppenney, Ben Radley and Jimmy Watson - in the John O’Hara League Cup semi-final victory over Rustington two days ago are likely to feature.

Danny Ellis may also return from injury, but captain Shaun Loft is definitely out after having stitches in a foot wound sustained against Pagham last weekend.

The match was started on Saturday February 19, yet was controversially abandoned at half time due to the wet conditions with the score 1-1. Kick-off at The Salts is 7.45pm.

A report will appear on this website tonight.

Rye will face Three Bridges, meanwhile, in the final of the John O’Hara League Cup on Good Friday April 22 after Bridges overcame Crawley Down 4-3 in the second semi-final last night.

Also last night, Sidley United reserves came from 3-1 down to edge out Lancing 4-3 in a Reserve Section Challenge Cup third round tie thanks to a last gasp free kick by Nathan Tudor.
