Six months and eight days after the last Isthmian fixtures were played, the 2020-21 season begins – and City are among clubs who go into the new campaign with high hopes of success.

Chichester were sixth and poised for a strong late-season push for the play-offs in the south east division when the coronavirus pandemic brought proceedings to an early halt.

Manager Miles Rutherford has kept almost all of last season’s squad together – and all at Oaklands Park are confident of another fine season.

City will start at home to Ramsgate on Saturday – in a division that has lost one of its 20 teams, with Guernsey deciding they cannot take part this season because of Covid-19 restrictions and travel difficulties.

Chi coach Danny Potter said: “We’ve had an excellent pre-season and are looking forward to the start of the league season.

“I think we’re well-prepared. We’ve been missing some key players like Ryan Davidson, Kaleem Haitham, Connor Cpdy and Gicu Iordache but they’re all on the way back.”

Potter is excited by a couple of additions Chi have made – namely Ethan Pritchard and Ryan Penny. He expects both to make a big impact.
