Chichester City hope for home comfort after another washout

It makes for a two-week absence from action for City, but they still find themselves within reach of the teams just above them.

Shoreham are City’s next opponents – at Oaklands Way on Saturday – with Arundel following visiting three days later.

East Grinstead Town’s win over Arundel saw them leapfrog Chichester into seventh place in the table, but other teams nearby failed to capitalise.

And Chichester’s next two opponents are not on good form – that defeat being Arundel’s third in their past six games in all competitions. They have now gone without a win in three league games.

Shoreham have not won in 12 in a run that stretches back to November, and have conceded 21 goals in five games, losing 10-2 to East Grinstead Town at the end of January.

Many of the sides around Chichester do still have games in hand, though, so Adie Girdler’s side must get points on the board.

And there’s an unfriendly congested fixture list waiting, with several postponements to catch up on and eight out of ten games away from home as Chichester head into April.

One of those games is in the second round of the Brighton Charity Cup, in which Chichester have been drawn against county division-two side Storrington, with the tie to be played at Storrington Rec on Tuesday, March 1.
