Chichester College footballers see final dreams die

ST BEDES proved too strong for Chichester College and dashed their hopes of making the final of the British Colleges Cup with a 4-0 win.

The visitors from the other side of Sussex have a strong reputation and showed why in the semi-final at Selsey FC – but not before Adam Plummer, Josh Clack and Morgan Forry all had good chances to put Chichester ahead.

In the 26th minute St Bedes’ Bain Thibauth slipped effortlessly through the home defence for the first.

Chichester responded well and Lewis Hyde struck the woodwork – and a few minutes later Bayen Fenwick doubled St Bedes’ lead.

The second half saw both teams up the tempo but St Bedes effectively sealed the win with a 51st-minute goal by Ashley Crocombe.

Chichester never gave up but the final goal came in the 71st minute when Fenwick netted his second.

Manager Dave Daniel said: “We played very well in the first half and had enough chances to win three games, but they were too strong for us in the end.

“But if we win our remain league games we can finish in a play-off place.”
