Westfield arrived at Chichester in fourth place and looked the stronger side for much of the first half.

Although Chichester started brightly, Westfield caught them on the break and took an early lead.

The second half was a different story as Chichester came out with an aggressive spark that was too much for the travelling team.

Soon the relentless attacks resulted in two goals from Abbey Shrubb which left the home side 2-1 winners.

The players’ heads dropped because of the injury and the game was slow to take off, although the occasional opportunity for each side appeared.

Albion took the lead from a well-struck free-kick into the top corner on 35 minutes. They were awarded a penalty just before half-time which was converted to make it 2-0.

Chichester came out fighting in the second half and with 20 minutes left they made it 2-1 when Jemma Cottam-Verbruggen finished neatly from the edge of the area.

Chichester were trying hard to force an equaliser with a couple of great opportunities not being taken and the Albion keeper making a good save from a Kerri Grant free-kick.

A change in formation to push Chichester forward almost paid off when Natalie Spencer was through but she shot wide of the post.

The game ended with a loss but the fight in the second half made Albion work hard for the win.
