Wivesfield, who play in Chichester’s reserve league, came looking for a scalp - but the underdogs failed to bite.

Chichester nabbed an early lead with Ambler beating several players on the right then cutting in and slotting the ball past the keeper.

Wivelsfield forced McNamara to make a fantastic one-on-one stop just inside her area. But Chichester regained their dominance and were awarded a penalty for a handball, calmly converted by Wride.

The third came after Harnett, Hughes-Jones, Wride and Strudwick set up Widdowson for an emphatic finish into the top corner of the goal.

Wride got her second from a free-kick after Ambler was fouled on the edge of the area.

The fifth came when the impressive Strudwick broke and crossed for Widdowson to head in.

After the break, Chichester continued to put Wivelsfield under pressure and Lauren Cheshire got in on the act. She was played through one on one and confidently finished.

Strudwick provided an assist for fellow winger Fowlie before Cheshire’s hard work paid off with her second.

Widdowson completed her hat-trick having been played in on goal.

Alexandre got the tenth with great improvisation from a corner to score with her chest. Sub Abbey Shrubb scored No11 and the 12th came as Fowlie cut in from the left and shot from 20 yards and Shrubb rose to divert it in. Both players claimed the goal.

Chichester are back to league action this Sunday away to Portsmouth University (2pm).

Seahaven started brightly but Stacy Baker and Annie Richardson dealt with any real threat.

Naomi Parfoot in the Chichester goal had to be quick off her line to clear from the edge of her box.

Chichester brought on Ellie Thorne and Amber Beaven and this helped when they did start to play more fluent football.

Beaven broke in to the box only for her shot to hit the post and Jemma Cottam-Verbruggen put the rebound wide. Richardson almost opened the scoring too.

For the second half, Lizzie Ogden was brought on in midfield and Chichester began to take control.

A series of corners led to Jodie Greenway scoring direct from one to make it 1-0 to Chichester.

Greenway was spreading the ball around the pitch and Sian Payne was undone by a bobble when she had a good opportunity from six yards. Chichester’s three points moved them seven points ahead at the top.
