Two of the area’s senior football clubs were beaten in county knockout competitions on Saturday.
Little Common fell at the first hurdle in the Macron Store Sussex County Football League Division Two Challenge Cup, while Westfield suffered the same fate in the Sussex Senior Cup.
Steve Morris gave Common a first half lead away to Oakwood, but the hosts struck twice after the break through Liam Cox and Tom Lyons to complete a 2-1 victory.
It was the second time in five days that Common had been knocked out of a cup competition by that scoreline having also lost 2-1 at home to Mile Oak in the Sussex RUR Charity Cup the previous Tuesday.
Fellow Division Two side Westfield went down 5-1 at home to Division One outfit Chichester City despite taking an early lead through David Pugh. A Joe Gromett hat-trick, and one apiece from Morgan Forrey and Tom Groom turned the match around.
