Clymping suffer 13th consecutive defeat

CLYMPING Football Club’s struggles at the foot of County League Division 2 continued as they crashed to a miserable 13th consecutive defeat on Saturday, falling 6-1 at home to Loxwood, to leave their survival hopes already looking bleak.

Clymping handed debuts to four new signings, but they failed to inspire the side to their first win of the season as they remain with only one point from the campaign.

Clymping manager Darren Atkins said: “After we did okay at Storrington, it was very disappointing and we weren’t at it in the first half.

“We need to start quicker and it’ll take time with the new signings, one of which, Steve Duffin, was outstanding, but to be fair to Loxwood they were the best team we’ve played this season.

“I brought myself on to inject a bit of life and to fire us up. I can’t fault the effort and we just need to keep going. I’m desperate to keep Clymping up, but things need to turn quickly.”

A brace from Damon Aston and Istvan Gulyas, one a penalty, plus strikes from Kevin Broad and Sam Matthews did the damage for Loxwood. While Clymping’s solitary strike came through debutant Duffin from the penalty spot on 69 minutes.

CLYMPING: May; T.Rudd. Willmott (debut), Palmer, Lawton; Hird (debut), Demford (debut), Perkins, M.Rudd; J.Atkins, Duffin (debut). Subs: Cooke (Atkins 50), Higgins (Perkins 60), D.Atkins (Demford 72), Baker.
