Colbran: ‘We could have taken three points’

He said: “It was a bit disappointing to go behind as in the first 10 minutes. In the past (10 games ago) we could have thrown in the towel and lost that game 4-0.

“Now we’re full of confidence and always think we can get back into games and go on and win games. We did that and there was a good chance we could have pinched all three points.

“Crawley Down are still going for the play-offs so it was a good performance.”

Colbran praised his side’s goalscorer Trevor McCreadie who scored his second goal in successive games and revealed he has shown his eye for goal in training.

He said; “Trevor’s a decent player, played very well and is a goalscorer. He’s really very hungry for goals. Even if he misses one he’ll be there next time. That’s what makes a good striker, he’s have three or four chances and score one or two. He’s only young, 19, which should be born in mind and we’ve seen it in training sessions. It has taken him a few games to score but now I think he’ll go on and score more.”

Skipper Gary Charman said Horsham improved as the game went on against quality opposition.

He said: “Their front-two caused us problems all afternoon and they have some quality player and their goal was a cracker.

“As the game went on we grew into the game. It was good point away from home but at the same time we perhaps lost three points today because the better chances came from us. How many chances did Michael Hunter save in the second half? He didn’t.

“There’s a lot more characters in the team and we go into games thinking we will win games. Our squad now is a top-six team.

“We have eight games to go and we need three wins to stay up. If we play like we did today I’m sure we will accomplish that without a problem.”
