The team’s topscorer believes it was unacceptable that they were outplayed at home by a team below in the table.

Collins says too many penalties are being given away and their quality on the ball must improve as soon as possible.

He said: “We weren’t good enough as a side and we got out-fought and out-footballed by the better side and it can’t happen at home, it can’t happen at any game, especially at home.

“So we need to get back to the drawing board and get ourselves sorted very quickly.

“They (Crewe) had a lot of chances to score before the penalty and we can’t keep giving penalties away.

“That’s got to be double figures of penalties we have had this season and that’s not good enough.”

Collins wants the team to show an immediate improvement from their current dip in form.

He said: “We need to work harder keeping the ball out of the net and that starts from us up top as well.

“We need to take this on the chin as a team and need to rectify it quickly.

“Our quality on the ball wasn’t good enough against Crewe and hasn’t been for the last couple of weeks if I’m honest from everyone.”

Collins added: “Crewe got a goal in the first half and got a new lease of life and they went on and punished us in the second half and that can’t happen against people in and around us.”
