The Isle of Wight midfielder was last week told by the Blues his contract would not be renewed upon its expiry at the end of the season.

It was a similar story for fellow first-year professional Dan Thompson as Guy Whittingham sets out his plans for the future.

Colson, who appeared for Pompey in the Capital One Cup at Plymouth back in August, is now seeking a new club.

And following a month’s loan at Bashley, he has gone on trial to an unnamed top-flight club.

Stoke had been one of two clubs taking a look at him and may be the party involved. It brings to an end a Bashley stay in which Colson made eight appearances before departing last week.

As for Thompson, he continues to remain on loan at Bognor.

Meanwhile, Jack Maloney has been shortlisted for an award.

The winger, who has recently broken into the Pompey first team, has been nominated for the Academy Goal of the Month competition.
