Common aim for as many points as possible

Little Common Football Club’s aim for the remainder of the season is to pick up as many points as possible, according to player-manager Russell Eldridge.

A third successive top four finish in Macron Store Sussex County Football League Division Two now looks unlikely with Common 10 points outside the top four in seventh.

Eldridge said: “I feel frustrated and the group feel frustrated. It’s just a matter now of trying to pick up as many points as we possibly can and try to finish the season on a high.

“We need to put in some good, solid performances for 90 minutes rather than just for 45 minutes or an hour. That’s been the trouble, we’ve played for half a game this year.”

Common will make the long trip to second-bottom Storrington on Saturday hoping for a repeat of their 5-0 victory in September’s reverse fixture.

Common have won one and lost three of their last four league outings, while Storrington are without a league victory since late October.
