Common beaten by Seaford

Little Common suffered a 4-2 defeat away to Seaford Town on a windy Wednesday night.

Steve Dallaway gave Seaford the lead after 23 minutes of the Sussex County Football League Division Two fixture only for Jordan Wood to equalise three minutes later.

Chris Herrmann restored Town’s advantage 10 minutes before half time, but again Common came back in the 53rd minute through Jamie Crone.

Seaford went ahead for a third time with 20 minutes remaining when James McKenzie curled one in direct from a corner aided by the rather strong breeze that was blowing that way.

The home side, who won 5-1 away to Common in a Division Two Challenge Cup tie on September 17, made sure of the points when Dallaway scrambled in his second after 85 minutes.

Considering the appalling conditions, this wasn’t a bad game and credit must go to the players for keeping the crowd entertained. There were no bookings for either team.

A full report will appear in tomorrow’s Bexhill Observer.
