Common goal gets boost from Drew

Little Common’s survival bid has been boosted by the signing of Drew Greenall.

The tall striker joins in time for the final seven games of the season as Common seek to remain outside the two relegation places from Sussex County Football League Division Two.

Common player-manager Russell Eldridge said of Hailsham-based Greenall, pictured: “It’s fantastic news really. He’s proven in county two and he’s also scored goals in county one.”

Greenall scored for Division One side AFC Uckfield in their 3-1 Brighton Charity Cup victory away to East Grinstead Town last weekend, but should be in Common’s squad for the visit from Littlehampton Town on Saturday.

“I’m really pleased to get Drew and I’m sure he will do well for us for the rest of the season,” continued Eldridge. “He will bring some experience to us and hopefully take some pressure off the other guys as well.”

Only goal difference is keeping Common out of the drop zone. Their next six games are all at home, but they still have to play two of the top three.

“We’re very confident at home and we do tend to play really well at home,” said Eldridge, who is due to welcome back Chas Lister. See tomorrow’s Bexhill Observer for the full article.
