The Parafix Sussex Senior Challenge Cup third round tie has been called-off because of a waterlogged pitch and will now be played at a later date.

It’s the second successive Tuesday that Common have had a match postponed after their Sussex Principal RUR Charity Cup quarter-final at home to Chichester City was called-off last week. That tie was subsequently rearranged for next Tuesday (December 15).

Had the Arundel game gone ahead, Common would’ve been seeking to reach their third cup quarter-final of the season having already made it to the last eight of the Macron Store Southern Combination Football League’s Peter Bentley Challenge Cup and the aforementioned RUR Cup.

Southern Combination League Division One side Common have won seven of their nine cup matches so far this term and two of their victories have come against higher level opposition. Arundel, incidentally, lie 12th in Southern Combination League Division One.

Having been fixtureless at the weekend due to an odd number of teams in their league, Common haven’t played since the 3-2 loss at home to table-topping Crawley Down Gatwick on Saturday November 28. They are due to visit Saltdean United in the league this coming Saturday.

As previously reported on this website, Hastings United are away to fellow Ryman League Division One South club Worthing in the same competition tonight. Kick-off in that match is 7.45pm.
