Hornets boss Simon Colbran already has the baulk of his squad for next season but is looking for three more additions, with a target man his top priority.

“We’ve got some good players coming down actually so I’m really positive about it, there’s a few good strikers coming down which is what we need,” Colbran said.

“What we’re looking for is a big striker and a few coming along have played a lot higher. We’ve got goal-scorers in Jamie Cade and Jamie Brotherton, as well as Tony Nwachukwu so we’re just after a big lad as well.”

Two of the strikers expected are believed to have played Conference South football as recently as last season, while others have Ryman League experience and at least one of those signed up was on the books at Premier League Arsenal.

Colbran said: “We already have a squad of 17 for definite and I want another three so we have 20 in the squad for pre-season, and then we can make our choice before the season starts. So there are still three places left, and I haven’t forgotten our youth team as well because we also have a lot of talent there.”

Colbran expects to then whittle his final squad for the new season down to 17 or 18.
