County League round-up (August 10)

EAST Preston, Shoreham, Lancing and Worthing United football clubs were all opening day winners in County League Division 1 on Saturday (August 10).

EP recorded a 3-0 win at Crowborough as Darren Boswell hit a double and Tom Levitt was also on target.

Shoreham beat Arundel 5-3 in a thriller at Middle Road, despite a hat-trick for the visitors’ Scott Tipper.

Rob O’Toole, with two, Craig Bunch, Mike Demario and John Buggy all netted for Mussels in Bryan O’Toole’s first game in charge.

Richard Whittington won his first game in charge at Lancing as they overcame Ringmer 4-0 at Culver Road. Dom Shepherd, Owen Callaghan, Charlie Romain and Alex Howell got the goals.

Jason Rutherford and Lloyd Saunders’ Worthing United side were 3-1 winners at home to Newhaven, with goals from Grant Philpott, Ryan Bradley and Titus Paterson.

Also in Division 1, Littlehampton, Division 2 champions last season, lost 2-1 at Hassocks. Scott Packer was on target for Golds.

In Division 2, Mile Oak won 4-3 at home to Bexhill as Nathan Loughlin, Luke Pullinger, Mark O’Regan were among the goals, with the other an own goal.

Joe Warner hit a double as Storrington won 2-0 at home to Midhurst & Easebourne.

Westfield fought back from 2-0 and 3-2 down to draw 3-3 at home to Wick & Barnham United.

Matt Dodd scored for Steyning Town in their 1-1 draw with Broadbridge Heath, and Matt Wilson struck for Rustington as they went down 6-1 at Eastbourne United.
