County League round-up (Tuesday, April 8)

LANCING Football Club picked up a crucial 2-1 away win to move out of the County League Division 1 relegation zone on Tuesday night.

The visitors took the lead in the 67th minute when Arundel failed to clear a corner and Ollie Davis’ shot was deflected in by Owen Callaghan.

Two minutes later, Arundel were level as Josh Biggs’ corner was finished by Scott Tipper at the near post

Lancers got the winner on 85 minutes when Lloyd Walker was adjudged to have handled a Callaghan cross and Will Conway netted from the penalty spot.

Worthing United meanwhile suffered an 8-0 hammering away at East Grinstead.

In Division 2, Steyning Town went down to a second successive defeat when they lost 2-1 away to Oakwood.

Goals from Liam Cox and Darren Tidey put Oakwood two ahead, before Rob Clark got a goal back on the hour mark.

Mile Oak secured a comfortable 5-0 win over Saltdean thanks to goal from Jamie Watts (two), Andy McDowell, Mark O’Regan and Stuart Garrod.

In the Division 3 Cup, Ferring booked a spot in the final with a fine 5-1 victory over Ifield.

Liam Da Costa hit a hat-trick and Josey Stakim a brace as Ferring eased through.
