Manager Mark Yates had a meeting with 37-year-old former Portsmouth and Bournemouth stopper on Monday.

If he does not agree a deal then Reds will either turn to No.2 keeper Callum Preston, 20, or look to bring in a new keeper for their trip to Yeovil this weekend.

Meanwhile, Yates will be looking for an improvement as he looks to turnaround a four-game losing away run.

He is not over-worried about where goals are coing to come from, despite the team only managing to score one goal in their last four matches.

He said: “Hopefully we can get some more (players) in by next week, but it isn’t that easy. Goalscoring doesn’t worry me, we’ll score goals, but not if we play like we did against Notts County.

“We want a strong finish to the season but performances like Saturday’s don’t bode too well.

“We have to be strong, we have to be organised.

“We haven’t got the results we would have liked, but they are not against mugs - against teams like Carlisle, Barnet and Wycombe.

“We’ve got to address it and we will do.”
