The midfielder, 41, has played more than 400 games for the Reds and is the oldest player in the Football League. The fresh contract means he could be playing EFL football when he is 42.

Bulman has a wealth of experience from 900-plus career appearances, and has been a part of some memorable moments at Crawley, such as helping the club achieve promotion to the Football League and being part of the side who visited Manchester United in the FA Cup.

Bulman was ‘really pleased’ to get the new contract done and added: “I’m looking forward to being on the pitch and helping John (Yems) off the pitch and I think positive things will come this season."

Bulman will be pleased when the season starts but isn’t over-excited by what comes before it.

“I don’t like pre-season. Pre-season’s just about getting through it and you never really get to full fitness until a couple games in so it’s always tough... at 41 it’s going to be even tougher but I’m looking forward to ‘it’ as such”.

The experience Bulman can pass on as a coach will help Crawley’s younger signings.
