Crawley Town manager Dean Saunders’ Easter Monday would have been made perfect if they had scored more goals than they did in the 2-0 win against Oldham.

Izale McLeod headed Reds into the lead in the 14th minute and this was added to after 33 minutes with a good finish by Richard Wood.

The result means Crawley rose up to 19th in the table having amassed 13 points out of a possible 18 in their last six matches.

Saunders said: “I think we should have won by more really. We squandered a few chances and Lewis Young had a great chance at the end and the keeper had made a good save. Gavin Tomlin had a chance cleared off the line.

“It was a great performance but more importantly it is a great three points and looking at it, I think a few other results have gone our way as well.

“We went over the reason why we didn’t start well at Crewe and we got those ironed out and this was a vast improvement.

“We started well and Dean Morgan could have scored early on and then Izale does score. It’s a great cross from Gavin Tomlin and Izale McLeod gets across the front post which you are taught as a kid. It was a great header and that put us on our way.

“The second goal was from a set-play - a good ball in from Lee Fowler and Richard Wood goes in there with a bit of desire and determination. He’s done great since we signed him but really they have all been good.

“That’s four wins, a draw and a defeat in the last six games so the players are doing great - they are all battling.”
