A club statement released today (Tuesday, April 29) read: “Crawley Town can confirm that First Team Coach Guy Whittingham has left the club.

“It has been mutually agreed that Guy’s contract, which was due to expire at the end of the season, will not be renewed.

“In addition, the club can confirm that Club Secretary Chris Hough and Physiotherapist James Barker have been made redundant.

Chief Executive Michael Dunford said: “It is always sad when employees leave the football club and I would like to thank all three for their efforts on behalf of Crawley Town and to wish them all the best for their future careers.”

Reds manager John Gregory brought Whittingham in as his first team coach in December following his sacking as Portsmouth manager.

With two games left of the season, including tonight’s home game against Carlisle, the timing of the three backroom exits comes as something of a shock.
