Oldham defeat ‘my lowest point’ says Crawley boss Gregory

After the highs of Tuesday night’s win over Wolves, it was back to earth with a bump as Danny Philliskirk’s composed finish after 18 minutes proved the only goal in a poor contest at Boundary Park.

Crawley were particularly poor in the first-half and Gregory seemed to suggest his side didn’t show anywhere near the same desire as they did in beating the league leaders just five days earlier.

He said: “I don’t think I’ve ever felt this low since I’ve been at the club. Maybe I fell in love with too many people on Tuesday night.

“I would expect us to bounce back. We bounced back in the second half today, although we didn’t get back in the game there was a vast improvement on the first 45 minutes.

“But it’s gone, I’m very much a guy who moves on once it’s over and done with, there’s nothing I can do about it. It will hurt for a long, long time that game, as Gillingham did a couple of weeks ago.

“If you come away from these places and think we deserved it, over the 90 minutes we’ve totally outplayed (the other side). But that wasn’t the case, we were certainly out-fought in the first 45 minutes, which is a rare statement for me to make about my team.

“They’re licking their wounds (the players) and I’m licking mine, but I pick the team and obviously take responsibility for the outcome, and I’ll take a long hard look at myself over the weekend and consider what I want to do.”
