Paul Connolly charged by the FA over clash with Brentford fan
The incident wasn’t seen by the officials during the Tuesday night game but was captured on video, and appears to show the Reds player raise an arm and make contact with the fan after he had thrown the ball at him at a throw-in.
The FA has indicated to the club that the standard punishment of a three-match suspension would not be sufficient given the nature of the offence.
Connolly has until 6pm tonight (Friday) to respond to the charge.
Crawley Town released a statement confirming the charge and have indicated there will be no further comment from the club.
