He admitted he is raring to go when was unveiled at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon in front of a packed room of journalists.
Yates said: “I’ve been out of football for six months. There’s a job to be done and I’m really looking forward to some exciting times ahead.
“I’ve missed the training grounds and the games but this gives me the chance to assess the playing staff.
“I can’t wait to work with the group and also bring in some players which we need.”
Yates added: “You always want to play entertaining football. If you playing entertaining football but lose every week you won’t be in the job long.
