Danny’s on hand to fire Golds to replay victory at Heath

LITTLEHAMPTON Football Club set up a local derby with Arundel in the FA Vase second-qualifying round after a 2-0 win at Haywards Heath on Tuesday.

Golds needed the replay at Heath after they gave away three penalties on Saturday and drew 3-3 with the County League Division 3 side.

Danny Hand’s double took Golds through on Tuesday and Littlehampton boss Mark Bennett said: “It was a fairly comfortable win and I don’t think our keeper had a save to make.

“It was disappointing that we went to the replay but that’s the way it goes sometimes and we got through in the end.

“We’ve now got Arundel in the next round, which is a local derby and should be a good game.”

Peter Beadle twice went close for Littlehampton in the first half before Hand gave them the lead five minutes before half-time. After a passing team move, Hand dribbled his way into the box, beat a couple of players and fired home.

Hand netted the second from the penalty spot on 65 minutes after substitute Jason Jarvis was brought down.

Bennett added: “We’re not playing brilliantly but people are coming back from injuries and we’re starting to get there now.

“Adam Bibb played his first full game after injury and it was good to have him back, and Jamie Atterwell and Danny Hand also played quite well.”

Golds are at Steyning Town in County League Division 2 on Saturday and then host Storrington on Saturday.
