Shearing said: “I have tendered my resignation, I have offered to stay around until they get something sorted.

“I really like the club and the people but the truth is as hard as I work I’m just trying to put out fires.

“I eluded to it last week - results don’t lie.

“I was embarrassed on Saturday and thought enough is enough, they will need to find someone else. I’m happy to help whoever they get if required, or I can just go.

“As for the game, the first half performance was probably the worst I’ve seen. It was embarrassing.”
