The offers are on the table: that was the message from manager Tommy Widdrington at Eastbourne Borough’s presentation evening.
The boss has a place for a number of players who are currently unsigned for next season, including Richard Pacquette, Adam Watts, Simon Johnson Gavin McCallum and Kiran Khinda-John.
All players attended the celebration dinner and Widdrington had positive words for all.
“Richard brings a huge amount of experience to the squad, which is invaluable both to me and the other players. A fit Adam Watts, as we all know, is one of the best centre-backs in the league. Gavin is an exceptional talent and unplayable on his day. Johnno’s qualities are known to all, including his terrific versatility. And Kiran has done himself credit - he really stepped up to the plate in the latter part of the season, and for one so young he is a really exciting prospect.”
“There can be a place for all of them at Priory Lane next season, and they have offers on the table. It is now of course up to them.” Also in the frame, with a contract ready to sign, is Jack Evans, who joined in mid-season and earned a regular place.
Tommy will hope to seal those deals in the coming week, before he himself is on holiday. If so, it will give Borough an almost complete squad ahead of the new season. Those already committed for 2015-16 include Lewis Carey, Ian Simpemba, Sam Beale, Kane Haysman, Darren Lok, Nat Pinney and Ryan Worrall.
It is a marked contrast to last summer - when Widdrington performed a major rebuilding job -but continuity appears to be the way forward.
