Departing Hastings United star's heartfelt words - as club re-sign another fan favourite

Striker Daniel Ajakaiye sent a heartfelt farewell message to Hastings United’s fans and management after leaving The Pilot Field to join National South side Havant.

The powerful forward said he’d always be grateful for the chances he’d been given at The Pilot Field and the support shown him by fans.

After joining the Hampshire outfit at the end of last week, Ajakaiye said: “It’s been a great honour playing for Hastings United. You fans have been unreal.

“My only wish is that we would have got that moment to celebrate lifting that trophy and getting that promotion we deserved.

“Thank you for all the support you have given me during my time here. I am sad to leave but I must accept the new challenges in my career.

“Hastings United has been a moment I will keep forever. I have to give a message of thanks to all the coaches and staff – from the very first day I came to the club, you have been exceptional. I love and will miss you all but for now it’s goodbye.”

Meanwhile Hastings have announced the treturn of another fan favourite, Sam Cruttwell.

He has played more than 250 games for the club and re-joins after spending last season at Little Common.

Manager Chris Agutter said: “It’s great to have one of the most talented local footballers back at the club.

“With hard work and commitment I am sure Crutts will play a big part in the upcoming season.”
