LITTLEHAMPTON Football Club player-manager George Gaskin was delighted with his side’s performance in their derby win over East Preston on Sunday.

Gaskin, Scott Packer, Peter Beadle, Dean Janman and a Jacob Atterbury own-goal ensured they ran out 5-0 victors in the Southern Combination League Premier Division clash.

It was the perfect response from Golds after their nine-game unbeaten league run was ended in a 4-1 defeat at high-flying Lancing in their previous game.

Gaskin felt Sunday’s win was the perfect response from his side and said: “It was nice for us to get back to winning ways.

“You always want to win a local derby and we managed to do that.

“They are having a difficult season and coming into it I was a little concerned that we go into it with too much confidence but that was not the case.

“We couldn’t really pass the ball around too much as the pitch made it very difficult and it was really heavy.

“However, for us to keep a clean sheet and get five goals makes it a good day all round for us.

“We are coming into a run of fixtures against teams we lost to earlier in the season and we want to put those losses right when we meet them once again in the coming weeks.”
