A 1-1 draw in Kent was the Hornets’ first point in a month after a run of four straight defeats.

Di Paola revealed they were suffering from a shortage of confidence after a damaging few games, but hopes they have addressed that for the Ryman League South Division run-in.

The 15th-placed Hornets are 13 points clear of the bottom three and do not expect to be pulled anywhere near the relegation battle.

Instead, they are building for the future in their remaining games, starting with a home clash against Corinthian Casuals on Saturday.

Di Paola said: “We are on the home straight now with ten games left to go in the season and we just need to see how we go now.

“Tuesday night was a point and at that stage we just needed to stop the rot a little bit, so we have got to be happy with that.

“We will go again Saturday and hopefully Tuesday night’s result will install a bit of confidence in us as it was shot to bits. It is a shame as we do drop in confidence a lot when we have been on a bad run of results.

“We have arrested that slide now a bit, but we have to go again.”
