Newhaven’s big cup tie with Crawley Town scheduled to take place tomorrow night has been postponed.

The Dockers’ club website today reported: “Tuesday night’s Sussex Senior Cup 3rd Round match between Newhaven and Crawley Town has been postponed because of a frozen pitch.

“Heavy snowfall on Friday and Sunday has covered the pitch and with temperatures not reaching much higher than freezing, the game has had to be called off.

“A new date for the tie will be confirmed and announced as soon as possible.”

Frustration about the postponement was summed up by player Jason Goddard on Twitter. Goddard (‏@jasongoddard3) tweeted: “Very annoyed about our game being off against Crawley Town, damn you weather!”

The club published a picture of their Fort Road pitch under snowfall (above) at the weekend.
