Eastbourne Town name Chris Rea as new under-23 boss
Eastbourne Town have announced Chris Rea as the club’s new under-23s manager.
Chris Scott and Craig Ottley make up this very exciting management team.
Rea, an experienced county league player at Westfield, Rye United and Sidley United, was part of the Bexhill United first team squad and played for United in the FA Cup tie at The Saffrons last season.
He was also assistant manager of the United under-23s.
Otley also makes the same move from the Polegrove having also been part of Ryan Light’s first team squad at Bexhill last season.
He too is an experienced county league player who is also a former Town player having had a spell at The Saffrons.
Scott is another very experienced county league player for Rye United and Sidley United and was also part of the very successful Stamco team that blitzed through the leagues.
Assistant manager Jamie Podmore is delighted with the management team put together.
“It’s a really exciting appointment: a management team, with an awful lot of knowledge, experience and knowhow to pass on to young players to aid their development.“
Reazer really caught our eye last season with the work he did with the Bexhill United under-23s team.”
United 23s were sitting top of the table when lockdown hit, and had inflicted two defeats on Eastbourne Town’sy own 23s (2-0 at the Polegrove and 4-3 at the Saffrons).
Podmore added: “He was very good with the young players and the team played in the mould he does as a player – 100 per cent, high intensity and full of heart and desire.
“We know Reazer, Scotty and Otts will be very well organised and set high standards which is a great environment for young players to develop in – we are really looking forward to working with them”
Mark Simpson and Lee Walsh have been appointed to run the club’s under-18s.
