EAST PRESTON Football Club pulled off an FA Cup shock as they beat Ryman Premier side Peacehaven & Telscombe in the first qualifying round replay on Tuesday.

The side’s had played out a goalless draw in their original meeting on Saturday and EP sttruck twice through Adam Hunt and Ryan McBride to secure the win.

EP boss Dominic Di Paola was delighted with his side’s victory and said: “I thought we grew into the game after struggling in the opening 20 minutes or so.

“Over the course of the game I don’t think that they caused us too many problems, apart from a couple of decent chances.

“I thought Marc Pullan was outstanding for us on the night.

“But that is taking nothing away from all the over lads who were absolutely fantastic.

“I’m sure everyone will enjoy our trip to Conference South side Boreham Wood in the next round, it will be a good trip.”

The first-half was an even encounter with neither side creating many chances.

McBride did have a chance to put EP ahead on 20 minutes, after he intercepted a misplaced pass, but his shot was saved by Tony Di Bernado in the visitors goal.

Peacehaven should have gone ahead ten minutes into the second-half, as Jamie Brotherton beat the offside trap, though, he balzed his hot over the bar.

Brotherton had another great opportunity just five minutes this time from just five yards out but again he failed to find the target.

EP took the lead on 70 minutes, as Adam Hunt superbly chested and volleyed a drive in to the top corner of the net.

Former EP striker, Evan Archibald nearly got his side back on terms five minutes from time, but he turned his shot wide from close range.

EP ended the contest late on as McBride crashed home a 40-yard strike to send EP into the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

East Preston will now travel to Conference South side Boreham Wood in the FA Cup second qualifying round.
