EP’s winless run extends to six games

EP have not registered a league success since a 3-2 home victory against Horsham YMCA last month.

In that time, they have suffered three defeats and three draws and EP boss Sammy Donnelly was left disappointed at his side’s performance on Saturday.

He said: “I was really disappointed with the performance level of the side.

“No manager likes losing but I can accept it when we are outplayed. However, what I fail to accept is when a side under my management is out fought and loses a game with the other side wanting it more.

“Broadbridge Heath just looked as though they were more up for the game and really wanted to get that victory. We only have 11 games left now and it is going to be hard to motivate the players with very little left to play for.

“But I don’t like losing games of football and I will make sure the players are aware of that.

“It’s just not in my DNA to accept a defeat or draw, I go into every game wanting to win and the players have to make sure they are at their optimum level in every single game.

“All I want to see is that the whole side have given everything in the matches that they play. That is all I can ask of them but, if I don’t see that, then I end up disappointed.

“The first half was really poor from us and we seem to be really good in one half and not so good in another.

“This has to stop, I understand you cannot be on top for 90 minutes, but we need to make sure we have more of an even performance in our matches.”

EP were sloppy in the opening period and fell a goal behind when Ollie Moore struck on 31 minutes.

Ben Gray nearly levelled ten minutes into the second half but he blazed over from close range.

EP saw a lot of the ball in the second half but failed to make the most of their possession.

Moore almost bagged a second when he was sent clear through with ten minutes left but he shot straight at EP keeper Steve Allfrey.

East Preston travel to St Francis Rangers on Saturday and then entertain Newhaven on Tuesday.
