He said: “We won’t be getting carried away, I’ve been involved in football for a long time and know that one bad patch changes everything.

“The thought of winning the league hasn’t come into anyone’s minds and every game from now on is a cup final.”

It very much looks like Premier Division football will be played at Hanbury next season and Saunders believes that if it does happen then cup results this season prove that his side can cope with the challenge.

Premier Division leaders Loxwood even fell victim to Town back in August.

Saunders said: “Cup results don’t lie, we’ve beaten a few Premier sides and we certainly don’t look out of place.

“No massive changes to the squad will be needed but we have started preparations for next season, I may tweak the squad to add some extra quality.”

Saunders also spoke regarding the club as a whole and he thinks it’s very much heading in the right direction.

He said: “It’s great to be here where there is an aggressive committee behind me, they push the club.

“Everyone behind the scenes just really wants to take the club to a place it’s never been before.”

As they continue to look for promotion, Town’s next challenge comes on Saturday away to Midhurst and Easebourne.
