Eastbourne Borough have agreed terms with the vastly experienced and versatile Brian Dutton as Tommy Widdrington continues to build his team in preparation for the new season.
Dutton’s most recent club was Havant and Waterlooville, but he has wide experience at Conference National, Conference South and North levels.
Dutton hails originally from Yorkshire and his previous clubs include York City and Cambridge United.
The 31-year-old can play anywhere out-field with experience of playing in defence, midfield and occasionally upfront.
When playing at Salisbury he was originally a utility player for the club, playing in a variety of places all over the pitch, before featuring on a regular basis at centre back.
His particular achievement - and one which will not be unnoticed at Borough - is to have led Salisbury City, as their captain, to two successive promotions, to Conference South and then in a dramatic extra-time play-off against Dover Athletic to the then Conference National.
Widdrington said, “Brian is a lad whom I have signed and worked with before,
“His character and fitness epitomises what we need here at the Lane. He has experienced getting promotion out of this league numerous times and I am sure all supporters will join me in welcoming Brian to the club.”
Dutton knows that promotion feeling and he will surely be looking to repeat the experience between now and next April as Borough look to vastly improve on last season’s 17th place finish.
