Hugo Langton reckons he has spoken to as many as 50 or 60 players in recent weeks as he plans his Lewes squad for 2020-21.

He has one or two positions he particularly wants to strengthen in as he tries to build a squad capable at least of staying out of danger in the new campaign.

Langton, who only took over at the Dripping Pan eight games before lockdown brought an early end to the 19-20 season, said there was likely to be some of last season’s squad moving on and some staying.

He said: “First I’m delighted to be staying on at Lewes as manager. I had offers from higher up to coach and assist but have had ten or 15 years of flirting and want to be a manager.

“There will be changes with players going, possibly even key players, and players coming in. There are players I want to keep and there is always the chance of one or two going to higher leagues.

"I’m looking at attacking options because we need to put the ball in the net more often.”
